This design partnership is a first, and follows the trend of collaborations that combine luxury and street brands in order to create new innovative products. OMEGA’s joint mission is both fun and a nod to the brave company that took a risk to revive the Swiss watch industry after the quartz revolution.

The brands took their inspiration from outer space to create eleven Swatches, each named after a planetary body, from the giant sun at the center of the solar to the dwarf planet on its periphery.

All Swatches come in BIOCERAMIC. This is a unique blend of two thirds ceramic and one third material derived castor oil. While colours such as pink and pale-blue give away that these aren’t your typical Speedmaster watches they would be difficult to distinguish from a Moonwatch. All the key Moonwatch features are present. The Moonwatch is asymmetrical, with the iconic tachymeter dial and dot above ninety, as well as the Speedmaster subdials.

The new collection brings pride to OMEGA’s President and CEO, Mr. Raynald schlimann. Swatch’s vision and courage could have cut short OMEGA’s distinguished and long history. MoonSwatch is a collection that pays homage to the industry’s saviors in a humorous and accessible manner. The Swatches will appeal to budding Moonwatch enthusiasts and I cannot think of a better icon for our joint project. Now that we have explored the Milky Way, it’s time to explore the Moon. “They’re fantastic watches in brilliant colours that make me smile.”

With the new collection of colours rarely seen, OMEGA has given its professional timepiece an exciting twist. Each MoonSwatch features its own mission statement and inspirational engravings, as well as the joint OMEGA X Swatch logos on both the dial and crown. Each watch’s battery cover features a representation of the planet it represents. The final touch to the astronaut look is a VELCRO(c), spacesuit-compatible strap.
