5 Styling Tips To Improve Your Personal Style

You can improve your style by making simple changes to how you dress and where you shop.

It can be difficult to find new ways to wear the same clothes and lift your wardrobe when you are constantly wearing the same outfits.

You can improve your style by making simple changes to how you dress and where you shop.

Consider these 5 tips the next time you are in the changing room.

1. Adjust your clothing to fit your proportions

It’s better to avoid any alterations. You have to factor in the extra cost and time involved with your purchase. Wherever possible, I try to avoid altering clothes and look for a better fit at another brand or store.

Sometimes a simple change is all it takes to transform an amazing item into something that looks and feels custom-made for you.

Even so, I only recommend a change if an item is perfect in every other way, serves a purpose in your wardrobe, and will remain a staple for many years.

If you like the pants and the sleeves, it’s worth having the hemline shortened. These common alterations are quick and inexpensive.

You can adjust your clothes to fit your body proportions without having to go to the tailor. Here are a few examples.

Jackets:

If you roll your sleeves up to the elbow, they will appear as a relaxed and deliberate detail. If your sleeves do not stay rolled up when you do this, cuff them at the wrist twice or three time. It will transform your jackets to a tran-seasonal piece that you can wear during the transitional weather. You’ll also be able to shorten your sleeves temporarily. This looks stylish and is also intentional! You can also return the sleeves to their normal length when you need to wear a long-sleeved top underneath.

Jeans:

Cuff the hem of your jeans twice. Each cuff should be about 1cm. It looks good with sneakers, sandals or espadrilles in a casual setting. This can be done with ankle boots. This way of cuffing will allow your jeans to meet your ankle boot without having to tuck them in.

Tops:

Tuck in your top to your high-rise bottoms. French tucks look effortless and are very popular. If you are wearing pants, tuck in your top at the front. Let the sides and the back fall out. If you are tucking your top into a skirt or dress, tuck it in and then blouse the excess fabric over, leaving about a finger’s width.

If you don’t like tucking in tops, tie your top neatly at the front. It’s especially effective with button-up shirts. Unbutton the last two buttons and tie your top instead of buttoning.

2. Wear a color that represents you and your plans for the day

You can wear a colour and instantly feel refreshed, focused, and as if you slept more than you did. These colours will highlight your whites, brighten your eye color and lift your skin, minimizing dark circles or pigmentation. These colours are perfect for a day you feel flat.

Choose a color that represents your plans for the day. If you are going on a bike ride with a local cafe for breakfast, your clothing and colours will be different than if you were heading to a busy day at work, which includes meetings with colleagues and stakeholders.

3. Swap cardigans with relaxed jackets

Cardigans are great for going to the store or to the park. However, they can quickly show signs of wear and lack structure. They may also look unpolished. The best cardigans have a shape at the neckline, the waistline or the arms. They should also be textured and colourful.

Wearing a lightweight, loose-fitting jacket is an alternative. You can still wear them as a lightweight jacket to add an extra layer. They are easy to move around in and provide some warmth.

A denim jacket can be worn casually with jeans, dresses, or skirts. Many denim jackets have stretchy fabric, so they are not rigid or restrictive.

Look for a fabric with texture. For example, if you want to be able roll your cardigan into your bag, choose one that has a ribbed pattern. It will keep your cardigan in shape once it is out of the bag and hide any minor pulls.

4. Neutral colours are the best choice for shoes.

You want to make sure you get the most out of your money. You can own fewer shoes if you have a neutral-coloured collection. However, they will go with a variety of outfits.

All of these colours work well with a wide range of textures, prints and colours.

When choosing shoes, it is important to take into account your lifestyle. You may not need heels if you walk to your job, but you will want a pair of comfortable boots so that you can walk in the rain. If you work for a corporation, you may not be able to wear white sneakers, but in an office that has a smart-casual dress code you can easily incorporate white sneakers into your wardrobe.

5. Wear an accessory that makes a significant impact on your outfit

You don’t have to buy a lot of pieces, but rather a few that will work with your wardrobe. All of these items will help to enhance your outfit’s colours, textures, and prints. What you have, your face shape, and personal colouring should determine the exact accessories.
